Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Evaluations / Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT)
Tinnitus is the medical term for the perception of sound when no external sound is present. It is often referred to as “ringing in the ears”, although some people hear hissing, roaring, whistling, chirping, or clicking. Hyperacusis is a reduced tolerance to normal environmental sounds and is a fairly rare auditory disorder. Our assessments and resulting recommendations/therapies can help significantly reduce the negative effects of tinnitus or hyperacusis on your daily life.
Auditory Processing Assessments
Auditory processing is a key element in a person’s ability to communicate with the world. An individual with auditory processing problems has difficulties in the reception and interpretation of auditory information—primarily speech—in the absence of hearing loss. Auditory Processing difficulties can adversely affect an individual’s ability to learn and to succeed in a conventional classroom, typical employment setting, or social settings without appropriate intervention and (re)habilitation. Reading comprehension and spelling require strong auditory processing skills. Our individualized recommendations are beneficial in school or employment settings.
Repair of Hearing Instruments
Repair of all makes of hearing instruments are done at the clinic or at the manufacturer’s Canadian labs. We will do our best to repair in-clinic when possible.
Loaner Hearing Instruments
If you require, a loaner instrument can be made available to you during your hearing instrument repair.
